• Gertrude Schmeidler Experimental psychologist at City College of New York whose card-guessing experiments of 1942 to 1945 produced the sheep and goat classification of subjects, and who tested Ingo Swann's psychokinesis on thermistors in 1971 to 1973.
• J. B. Rhine Botanist turned Duke psychologist who ran the university's Parapsychology Laboratory from 1930, founded the Journal of Parapsychology, and took Army (1951 to 1953) and Navy (1953 to 1959) research money for animal ESP work.
• Walter Levy Director of J. B. Rhine's Institute for Parapsychology in Durham who resigned in June 1974 after colleagues recorded him altering the output of rat and gerbil psi experiments.
