  • 1958 C-118 shootdown over Azerbaijan Air Force C-118 carrying CIA cargo forced down by Soviet MiG-17s over Azerbaijan on June 27, 1958; its nine crew, two well informed on agency work, were questioned at Baku and freed after ten days.
  • Condon Committee University of Colorado study of unidentified flying objects under an Air Force Office of Scientific Research contract (1966 to 1968), directed by Edward Condon, whose report preceded the termination of Project Blue Book.
