Dexter Lehtinen was an assistant U.S. Attorney and a close friend of Allan Boyak from his Green Beret days. He later became the Miami U.S. Attorney. He was named Interim United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida effective June 17, 1988.1 The Senate's 1992 report on BCCI calls him "the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Dexter Lehtinen," among the critics of the Justice Department's handling of the bank.2 Boyak consulted with Lehtinen before going to the Los Angeles FBI office with his suspicions about Robert Booth Nichols' activities.3
